Hello! My name is Chenda and I am 17 years old. I go to TASSEL to learn English, but I cannot go to public school because it is far away in the mountains and I do not have a motorcycle to get there. There are not enough high schools; so many children like me must stop going to public school after primary school.

I live with my brother, two uncles, and grandmother. My parents are in Thailand for work, and they work very hard to send us $30 each month. However, they owe $750 for their passports, so most of the money they earn must go to paying back their debt. We have some land here where we grow rice, but recently we have had bad harvests. I spend lots of time preparing for my English classes and tending to the fields when the crops are growing well. Hopefully, soon I will be able to earn enough money to buy a motorcycle and return to school!
